Ride Nature is a 501(c)3 non-profit action sports missions organization dedicated to impacting the world through action sports outreach, evangelism, and discipleship.
Founded in 2009, our mission and goal is to reach youth on a global basis with the Truth of Jesus Christ while working to equip and empower leadership to utilize action sports as an effective tool for ministry. Since 2009 we have been blessed to lead nearly 20 action sports focused mission trips to multiple countries around the world, given away over 500 boards, and recently produced a full length film titled, “PURPOSE”.
Recently USA TODAY announced that in the United States there are more children between the ages of 7-18 SKATEBOARDING than there are playing little league baseball. In many countries around the world the action sports culture and industry is rapidly exploding and quickly becoming more popular than sports even as widespread as soccer. The surf/skate industry is one of the biggest influences on youth not only in the U.S., but worldwide. At Ride Nature, our goal is to utilize this influence as an effective tool to point youth to Jesus Christ.
WHO WE ARE
Our staff, interns, and volunteers are made up of individuals from around the world who all share a similar passion for action sports but more importantly a love and desire to see the world impacted with the Truth of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in coming on board full time with Ride Nature, joining our staff, interning, or possibly being an international missionary please message us today or click the “GET INVOLVED” link above.
San Juan Del Sur holds a very special place in our hearts as this was the destination for the very first international Ride Nature mission trip. Despite it’s incredible beauty, SJDS is a city of great need especially spiritually. We have been blessed to lead numerous mission trips back to SJDS since our first expedition and are very thankful to have ministry partners Dave and Tamra Bryant working in this city to shine the light of Jesus Christ through surf and skate outreach and weekly Bible studies. We look forward to continue to invest into this community as we are prayerfully seeking a revival in SJDS.
We were recently blessed with the addition of two new missionaries to the Ride Nature team! Abner and McKenna Arias who are currently living in Matapalo, Costa Rica, a small village in the Guanacaste region are currently working full time with Ride Nature to establish partnerships with the local churches and minister to the youth of Guanacaste through action sports outreach events and discipleship opportunities. We are currently planning several mission trips to this region of Costa Rica to partner alongside Abner and McKenna’s efforts and are also working to raise funds to purchase property in Guanacaste with the dream of building a youth center/mission base in Guanacaste. To support the work happening in Costa Rica or to make a donation to Abner and Mckenna .
For more information about the mission base or to learn how you can partner in those efforts please email us at email@example.com.
Situated several hours north of Lima, Peru lies the beautiful coastal city of Huacho. We are blessed to be working alongside Craig and Daisy Tippie, pastors at Calvary Chapel Huacho and leaders of a local Christian Surfers chapter. Craig and Daisy share Ride Nature’s passion and desire to reach out to youth through action sports evangelism and discipleship and have also hosted several Purpose Film Premiers in their surrounding community. We are currently planning several mission trips to Lima and Huacho to partner alongside the Tippies, and we look forward to continue working together in the years to come.
Fulfilling our dream to work in unreached areas around the world, September 2013 marked the first opportunity we had to make that dream a reality. Partnering with ministries; YouthHope, India Christian Mission, and Pure Movement we ventured forth on our first expedition to the beautiful country of India. With a population over 1.2 BILLION PEOPLE and less than 3% of those individuals being Christian, this trip confirmed in our hearts that Asia is an area in which we feel strongly called to continue working. After leading over 20 outreach events and 10 Purpose Film premieres, the Lord opened the door for a potential ministry opportunity in a small fishing/surf community in Southern India called, Kovalam. We are currently praying and planning the next step to return with the hopes of equipping and establishing long-term leadership to use surfing and skating as tools to reach the youth of Southern India with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
In July of 2011 we set forth to to establish our first international skatepark in Xela (Sela), Guatemala. Teaming up with JSAW, Christian Skaters, and SoZo Skate we knocked out the entire park build in under a week. We are blessed to continue working in Guatemala, and although unfortunately this park is no longer open, we are blessed to share that the skate ministry in Guatemala is going stronger than ever. We look forward to returning to this amazing country and continuing to invest efforts to reach Guatemala with the Truth of Jesus Christ for many years to come.
Shortly after the organization was founded in 2009 we were presented with an opportunity to partner with the ministry; Little Ones Ministries. LOM is currently working both in Mexico and Nicaragua with a mission to serve both physically and spiritually impoverished children with the love of Christ to these kids by providing 2 things: Food and Hope. During our first trip to Mexico we were able to help build a playground for an orphanage that LOM runs as well as host several skate outreach events and visit communities outside of the city. We were stoked to discover that the city of Jerez actually had a pretty well established skate community and the youth were very open to hearing the message of Jesus, especially when it was coming from Christian who SKATED. During a large skate contest/outreach event we held, we were blessed with the opportunity to share the Gospel with many of the youth as well as plug several of them in with discipleship opportunities. We are currently prayerfully seeking a leader to help launch a skate ministry in Jerez and if this is something you would like to learn more about or feel called to be a “skate missionary” please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our good friends and partners for the Kingdom, Michael and Paula Lindsey currently are investing their time and energy into the small fishing community of Popoyo. Like many areas of Nicaragua, Popoyo is an area of great need both financially and spiritually. Michael and Paula are the founding directors of the ministry; “Waves of Love” which have been blessed to work with in the past and look forward to partnering with for many years to come. Currently there are several opportunities for surf and skate outreach in many parts of Nicaragua; if you are interested in receiving more information about being a “surf or skate missionary” please message us today.
In 2012 we were blessed with the opportunity to collaborate once again with partner ministries; JSAW and Christian Skaters for a mission trip to Panama to not only build a skatepark, but to alo help launch a ministry that is currently working to reach out to the youth of Panama City. Sitting literally right beside the Panama Canal, “Canal Skate” is currently hosting weekly Bible studies, outreach events, and discipling youth on a regular basis through the park that our team was able to help build and we look forward to continue working with them in the years to come. We are currently planning several trips this upcoming year to continue investing in this ministry and supporting their efforts to impact Panama through action sports outreach, evangelism, and discipleship.
Since the organization was founded in 2009, we have been blessed to lead multiple mission trips to numerous areas all over Costa Rica. We are blessed to have partnered with several skate ministries in the San Jose area as well as YWAM and Calvary Chapel and ministries in Jaco and Esterillos. The Lord is definitely moving in Costa Rica and we are very focused on continuing to invest time, energy, and resources to equip and establish long-term leadership to reach the youth of Costa Rica with the Truth of Jesus Christ! If you would like more information about opportunities to serve/be involved with the work in Costa Rica message us today.
Eleuthera is notorious for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas and surprisingly also great surf! Sadly, because of the economic status of the Bahamas the majority of the youth have never even had the opportunity to surf and many don’t even spend time at the beach. We are currently working with Young Life Eleuthera to support their efforts to reach the youth on the island by using skimboarding and surfing to connect with kids and create discipleship opportunities on a regular basis. We are also planning a trip this upcoming year to Eleuthera to work with Young Life and look forward to helping further developing a skim/surf ministry in the Bahamas.
With Puerto Rico being a U.S. territory and it being only a short 2 hour flight from South Florida, Rincon is one of the easiest locations for us to visit, yet still an area of great need. Puerto Rico is notorious for their world class surf and a growing downhill longboarding population. As a result, the action sports industry is exploding in Puerto Rico and with that the need for Christian leadership is massive. We are currently working with Christian Surfers Rincon to help raise funds for boards, continue leading trips to Puerto Rico, and also helping to equip and establish additional leadership to reach the youth of Puerto Rico. If you would like to learn more about getting involved or possibly becoming a missionary in Rincon please message us today.
“I will thank you Lord among all people. I will sing your praises among the NATIONS.” - Psalm 108:3
TO OUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND PARTNERS OF THE MINISTRY! We recently came across this passage in Psalms 92 and couldn’t describe in
It’s that time of year again, Thanksgiving. A time to gather with friends and family, to count our blessings, and take notice
We get asked this question quite a bit; “Why not water, food, clothes, shoes?” “Why Action Sports?” The answer is that it
